Fashion house Juicy Couture is commonly known for two things: their line of tracksuits, and for having been co-founded by Gela Nash-Taylor, wife of Duran Duran’s bass guitarist John Taylor. The fashion house has also a perfume line, and this article in particular is a review of their perfume for women Viva La Juicy.

This Juicy Couture perfume was the second to be launched, after the fragrance for women with the same name. It is also a feminine fragrance, with no compromises and a very straight line of notes. The surprising part will not be the choice of ingredients, but their combination.

The perfume has much more class than the packaging would lead to believe, and has a heart of floral notes which are nicely crafted, with an unexpected sandalwood. Even if it was clearly inspired by Clinique Happy perfume, Viva la Juicy undoubtedly has its own personality.

Unlike many fragrances with fruity top notes, where alcohol strikes the nose at the first whiff, this Viva La Juicy is very gentle and feminine from the start, almost tickling your nose with wild berries and mandarin. Towards the end of the opening notes, there is a hint of passion fruit, which is not overtly sweet, but gives an idea of what is to come. The middle notes are a flower fest, with the ever present jasmine, tamed by a nice combination of gardenia and honeysuckle. Passion fruit is also still there, becoming more prominent towards the beginning of the heart notes, where the sweet side of this Juicy Couture perfume can finally express itself with a soft touch of amber, and a hefty scoop of vanilla. A spicy sandalwood gives a nice balance.

Given the sweet core and fruity and floral roots of this perfume, it will not last for the whole day on the skin, but this is not a problem, as it is definitely not a perfume for a day use, too sweet and flirtatious for a work environment. Age range between 20 and 40.
